2018 W-4 Cheat Sheet
The W-4 form controls your withholding. On the form you count your allowances. Under tax reform their are no more allowances. So for people with children this pop-up offers suggestions for how to use Child Tax Credits to fill out the allowances space of the W-4. The goal is to have your end of year taxes be just about what your withholding is
A Filing Status (from main page)
B Estimated 2018 ANNUAL Family Income from all sources
C Number of dependent children under age 17 who qualify for Child Tax Credit:
D Number of Dependents who do not qualify for Child Tax Credit(do not count yourself or spouse):

Notes

This pop-up is for year 2018 only. We are simplifying a lot (for example no itemized deduction) so the allowance suggested may not be correct for all users. This calculation is most accurate with your first paycheck of the year. It will become less accurate as you accumulate previous withholding.

If married both would use the suggested allowance.

No guarantee, explicit or implied, is made regarding its' accuracy or suitability for your W-4. For an exact number consult a tax professional.
